The Rajbari at Bawali

The Rajbari at Bawali is located 36 km from Kolkata in the general direction of Diamond Harbour. This 300 year old heritage property is built on 3 acres of land including 2 natural water bodies. The Rajbari Bawali belonged to the Bawali Mondal family that had land grants going back to the time of Akbar. The property has now been fully restored to showcase the fabulous past, architecture, opulence and history of this small hamlet of the South 24 Parganas; but more than that, it has created the perfect example in the revival and showcasing of, the traditional performing arts of Bengal. Besides, there is a strong focus on highlighting and supporting the local arts and crafts by the surrounding village communities.
