Kangsabati Dam
The second biggest earth dam of India. The green forests surround the vast bluish tract of water, and the hillocks are picturesque. The place is very famous for its awesome natural beauty. The undulating terrain along the southern edge of the Kangsabati water reservoir spreads as a three-dimensional necklace in green and terracotta.
Sonajhuri Nature Park
The view of Mukutmanipur in the evening when it’s close to sunset, merged with the entire backdrop is breath-taking, the road by the dam can be driven on and is a smooth ride. The sky takes on shades of orange during sunrise and sunset amidst the blues.
Jhilimili and Sutan Forest
Jhilimili is a tourist centre in the Ranibandh block in the Bankura district. Also known as the 'Darjeeling of South Bengal'. Jhilimili is exactly located at the border of Purulia, Bankura and Midnapur. The place is situated on a hillock and amidst thick, dense forests of varying heights. The forest cover is so thick in some places that even sunlight has a hard time making its way through the labyrinth of vegetation. Sutan is another beautiful village with shades of sal, piyal, mahua, palash, shimul etc. The surrounding becomes charming and colourful with palash and krishnachura flowers in the day time and the enchanting tune of madal played by the villagers at night. Over 70 species of known and unknown migratory birds can be found here.
Musafirana Viewpoint
Vast stretch of water at one side, lush green valley on the other and the blue sky overhead – that is Musafirana view-point all about. From here you will get the best view of Mukutmanipur. The evening breeze will complete the mystic interaction of colours of nature.
Ambikanagar
This Ancient Town. Situated 4 km from Mukutmanipur dam. It is famous for the Ambika Temple, Maa Ambika is an incarnation of Goddess Durga. Goddess Durga is worshipped as Maa Ambika in Ambikanagar village and is being worshipped here for last 700 years. This village is situated at the mating place of Kanshai and Kumari Rivers. Ambika temple is located at the banks.
Pareshnath Shiv Mandir
A hillock near Musafirana view point this is the abode of the Shiva deity named Pareshnath in Mukutmanipur. It is of a very ancient origin. Every year in the month of January a mela is organized by the local folk which attracts pilgrims and tourist from nearby districts. On the day of Makar Sankranti the tribals of Bankura and Purulia celebrate the Tusu festival in the month of Poush. Tusu fair is also held on the bank of Pareshnath Hill.
Banpukuria deer park
Banpukuria deer park is situated in the middle of the Mukutmanipur dam. Take a boat ride to reach the other side of the dam. From there you can either walk or hire a motor rickshaw to cover the distance of 2 km. One can also find eagles and species of different birds in the forest. It is advisable to carry binoculars to the park as it becomes easier to spot birds. The boat ride is an added feature to the place.
Talberia Lake
Talberia lake near Mukutmanipur is surrounded by greenery all over, the cold breeze freshens up the mood. One can also find monkeys on the branches of trees chattering. It can be visited as a sightseeing spot near Jhilimili. A small lake surrounded by deep forest.
